ChatGPT was revealed in November 2022.Similar to the printing press and the internet, it has impacted enterprise and enterprise inclusive of better education. At its core, ChatGPT uses artificial intelligence to generate answers to questions on a variety of topics. In education, camps are divided for those who want ChatGPT banned because they see it as a way for students to cheat. Instead, others see it as a tool to continue learning. As a technologist, I see great potential in chatGPT. I've already started using it to support the teachers I work with. This article provides an example of using chatGPT to enhance the classroom experience for teaching and learning. I'm sharing a few ways to use ChatGPT in your classroom. I give an example for each idea. This example is divided into two parts: • Instructions provided for chatGPT. These are written in bold letters. • Reply on chatGPT. These are written in italics. I would like to point out that I do not...

GPT-3.5 vs GPT-4: Is ChatGPT Plus worth its subscription fee?

I have been utilizing OpenAI's latest large language model, GPT-4, since its launch. Access to the text-input feature is available exclusively through the ChatGPT Plus subscription from OpenAI, priced at $20 per month. This service offers accurate and well-constructed responses to queries, surpassing its predecessor, GPT-3.5, which was available to the general public.

Despite occasional errors, referred to as "hallucinations," ChatGPT-4 excels in providing intelligent answers to complex questions. Here's a breakdown of the technical disparities between the free GPT-3.5 and the paid GPT-4 version in ChatGPT Plus:

Number of Parameters: OpenAI has not disclosed the exact number of parameters in GPT-4. However, according to Andrew Feldman, CEO of AI company Cerebras, GPT-4 has been trained with approximately 100 trillion parameters, a significant increase from GPT-3's 175 billion parameters.

Multimodal Model: GPT-4 is a multimodal model capable of processing both text and image data. For instance, it can interpret images and generate appropriate textual responses. ChatGPT Plus, however, responds only with text and cannot display images.

Memory: GPT-4 boasts an extended short-term memory of about 64,000 words, compared to GPT-3.5's 8,000 words. Additionally, GPT-4 can extract text from web pages when provided with a URL in the prompt.

Multilingual Capabilities: GPT-4 has improved multilingual capabilities, functioning effectively in 25 languages other than English, including French, German, and Spanish.

Steerability: GPT-4 offers enhanced "steerability," allowing users to control its responses by choosing a specific "personality." For example, users can instruct it to respond as a pirate, providing tailored answers based on the selected persona.

Limited Search Capacity: ChatGPT-4's training data is limited up to September 2021. However, users can instruct it to search the internet via Bing, enabling access to more recent information. Although this feature is in beta, it provides more timely responses.

Plugins: Another beta feature, plugins, enables OpenAI and third-party developers to integrate external application programming interfaces, enhancing ChatGPT-4's capabilities. For instance, plugins like Expedia and Kayak assist in finding optimal flight options, while the Ask Your PDF ChatGPT Plugin extracts information from specified PDF documents.

These advancements make GPT-4 significantly more intelligent than its predecessor, leading to improved performance in various exams, such as LSAT, SAT, Uniform Bar Exam, and GRE. OpenAI claims that GPT-4's responses are "40% more likely to provide factual answers than GPT-3.5." This progress marks a substantial leap forward in AI language processing capabilities.
